My name is Rob Potylo and I’m the executive producer of Quiet Desperation. A reality series out of Boston fighting to get on local CBS Boston MY38 television to put on original programming instead of reruns of The Office and paid commercials. Please read my story…..
Boston, 03/25/14, Quiet Desperation is a reality series showcasing the best and brightest in Boston’s creative scene. Recently, we had partnered up with My38 CBS and signed a contract to air our show Sunday afternoons at 12:30pm for a 6 episode season. Over the past few weeks the team has been working feverishly on a pilot episode that adhered to FCC law and was “PG” in its content.
Unfortunately, on Monday March 24th, during a five minute meeting with CBS, the VP of sales breached the agreement to air the series before viewing the pilot we had prepared for them, citing drug humor and explicit language in online videos unrelated to the series scheduled to air, costing our grassroots production house thousands of dollars in production and advertising costs.
Quiet Desperation will continue to champion the fight to put creative programming that shines a light on the movers and shakers in Boston’s art’s scene on local television channels that otherwise fill their schedules with re-runs , paid advertising, and caricature reality shows such as “Southie Rules” and “Wicked Single”
The reality is this: Boston has been the home of many famous artists. Khalal Gibran, the Lebanese poet found Boston to be a place of art and culture in a rapidly decaying world. Celebrities such as G-love, John Mayer, Passion Pit, Aerosmith, Amanda Palmer, Jay Leno, Louie C.K, Conan O’Brien, Boston, Morphine, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Boston Pops and countless others all have hailed from or lived in this city. Sadly, Boston is not recognized for its exploding arts scene. This is why so much talent leaves the city. Quiet Desperation hopes to change that perception while bringing you the best that Boston has to offer.
My reality series about fighting to be an artist in Boston… Quiet Desperation….. Newest episode!!!
It’s a very close to the bone portrayal of what I’m going through right now…. Which is the fight to be more creative in Boston….. You should fight that fight tooo…. Because art evolves you…. By choosing to express yourself in any capacity such as painting or jamming with friends on music you’re calling upon the elements to seek deeper consciousness and connections with your fellow human beings…. Just like meditation or going to church….. It’s worth it to continue to dive into being creative and finding your true self underneath….don’t worry about stats on youtube or soundcloud….. look at art to evolve your being and the rest is house money….. I just spent 4 hours uploading this at a Barnes and Nobles….. Art is worth that…. Please take a chance and watch….and like….and share….. Together We Rise…..
This is the latest episode of Quiet Desperation. My little reality series out of Boston documenting my journeys as a manic creative type without a home. I’ve been making the series for nearly five years and have featured over 300 creative types in the greater Boston area on it….
